Medical Information
Health Conditions and Medications
Does the Jenny Craig Program screen clients for health conditions before enrolling?
All potential clients are asked to complete a Health Sheet detailing any health conditions and current medications. Certain health conditions and medications require approval from the client's doctor prior to starting the Program.
Type II Diabetes
Does the Jenny Craig Program enroll people with diabetes?
Yes. The Jenny Craig Program is appropriate for individuals with Type II diabetes that is controlled with physical activity and oral medications. All clients are asked to fill out a Health Sheet that identifies any health condition(s), including diabetes, which requires doctor approval for enrollment. If a client is using insulin to control his/her diabetes the Health Sheet will be reviewed by the Jenny Craig Corporate Dietitian, who will look at factors including type and history of diabetes, medications, familiarity with glucose monitoring and management of hypoglycemia and frequency of medical contact to determine if enrollment is appropriate.
Adolescents
Does the Jenny Craig Program enroll adolescents?
Yes. The Jenny Craig Adolescent Program is available in the United States, and is appropriate for healthy teenagers, aged 13-17 years old. We do not enroll children who are younger than 13 years of age. If an adolescent has a health condition that requires medication, or is breastfeeding, we are not able to enroll them in the Program. We feel the specialized needs of these individuals are best met by a medical professional.
Food Allergies
Is the Jenny Craig Program able to accommodate individuals with food allergies?
Yes. With careful menu planning, individuals with some common food allergies can be enrolled in the Program. However, since a large number of our Jenny's Cuisine™ items contain milk, soy and wheat; we are not able to enroll people with these allergies at this time. (Potential clients are screened for other less common food allergies, and a decision is made based on established enrollment guidelines).
